To sin or not to sin is the decision you make in life. Every person is responsible for his or her own life and decides to believe God and His Word (il-Bibbja) and walk in the will of God or not. Just like the Father, Jesus gave a command to sin no more but it was up to the people to give heed to his command or not. Let’s look at the story of the healing of the lame man at the pool of Bethesda and the woman who committed adultery and was caught in the act.
The healing of the lame man at the pool of Bethesda
Fi Ġwanni 5:1-15, Ġesù fejjaq raġel, li kellu infermità għal 38 snin. Dan ir-raġel zopp imqiegħed fuq sodda fl-għadira ta’ Bethesda.
When Jesus saw the lame man, He went to him and asked him if he wanted to get well. Ir-raġel zopp wieġeb lil Ġesù, that he didn’t have anyone to bring him to the water to get healed.
Imbagħad Ġesù ordna lir-raġel biex iqum u jieħu sodda u jimxi. The man obeyed the words of Jesus and stood up and walked. Ir-raġel zopp kien imfejjaq minn Ġesù! But what did Jesus say to him about the decision to sin or not to sin?
Why did Jesus say to Sin no more?
When Jesus met the man who was healed of his infirmity in the Temple in Jerusalem, Ġesù ordna lir-raġel biex ma jidnebx aktar. Why did Jesus say to sin no more? Lest a worse thing would come unto him.
Ġesù fejjaq lir-raġel mill-mard tiegħu (infermità tiegħu). Ir-raġel ġie msajjar u s-Saltna ta’ Alla kienet ġiet lejh.
Is-saltna tad-dlam kienet ħasbet lill-bniedem għalih 38 snin. But when Jesus came and the power of the Kingdom of heaven came upon him, ir-raġel inħeles mill-jasar tiegħu.
Wara Ġesù sab lilu fit-tempju, u qallu, Ara, Int Magħmul Sħiħ: dnub mhux aktar, ħalli ħaġa agħar tiġi lilek
John 5:14
Ġesù ħeles lir-raġel mill-ħabs spiritwali tad-dlam
Jesus released this lame man from this spiritual prison of darkness. Now that this man was released from this spiritual prison of darkness, Jesus commanded the healed man to no violate the spiritual laws by sinning.
Fi kliem ieħor; Jesus told the man to keep the commandments and do the rieda ta’ Alla and stay obedient to God instead of obeying and doing the will of the devil (li jaħdem fil-laħam) billi dnub.
Because if the man decided to reject the commandment of Jesus and disobey God and sin, he would be taken captive again by the forces of darkness and worse things would happen to him.
Ġesù wissa lir-raġel, because the man was carnal. He didn’t see the spiritual realm and couldn’t discern the spirits. But Jesus was spiritual and knew the spirit realm and the spiritual laws and revealed it to him through His word.
Jesus knew the Kingdom of Heaven and the kingdom of darkness. He wanted this man to stay free and not become a prisoner of the devil and darkness again.
Għalhekk, Ġesù ordna lir-raġel biex ma jidnebx aktar.
Ġesù qal, Go and sin no more to the woman that committed adultery
Fi Ġwanni 8:1-11, we read about a woman that was caught in the act of adultery. The woman that committed adultery was brought unto Jesus. L-Iskribi u l-Fariżej akkużaw lill-mara b’adulterju u qalu lil Ġesù x’kienet għamlet.
They suggested to stone her according to the Liġi ta 'Mosè. But the words of these men didn’t come from a good conscience. They only wanted to tempt Jesus, so that they could accuse Him.
Ġesù kiteb fl-art b’subgħajh u qalilhom, “He who’s sinless among you, ħa jkun l-ewwel li jitfa’ l-ġebla fuqha“.
Jesus knew that the people that belonged to the old generation of fallen man were carnal. They were trapped in the sinful nature of the flesh.
Instead of stoning the adultrous woman, the men left one by one until there was no one left except Jesus and the adultrous woman.
F'dak il-mument, Jesus had the power to condemn the woman and stone her. Because Jesus walked in the authority of the Kingdom of God (Bħala l-ħolqien il-ġdid) and was sinless.
Madankollu, Jesus said to the woman that He wouldn’t condemn her either. Since it was not Jesus’ time to judge but to save.
IMMA… Ġesù ma approvax of her work of adultery. Jesus commanded the woman to go her way and dnub mhux aktar.
Qalilha Ġesù, Lanqas jien ma nikkundannak: mur, u dnub mhux iktar
John 8:11
Il-ħolqien il-ġdid huwa separat mid-dinja
When you repent and become born again in Christ and enter the Kingdom of God, you leave the kingdom of darkness and are separated from the world. You have been forgiven, mifdija, and made whole and righteous by the blood of Jesus Christ.
You’ve become new creation and as a result of this spiritual transformation, int poġġa x-xjuħ tiegħek bid-drawwiet qodma tiegħu.
Ma tibqax timxi bil-mod li mxiet qabel l-indiema tiegħek, because you repented from that lifestyle and its works (tal-laħam).
Huwa essenzjali li tirrealizza dan m'għadekx midneb. You have become a saint through regeneration in Christ.
If you don’t realize and believe this, you will always think and live as a sinner. You’ll be stuck in your sins and never be freed from your sins.
Meta twelidt mill-ġdid, int tlajt minn saltna spiritwali għal oħra (Kolossin 1:13-14)
In your old life, you thought like the world and walked in sin (sin = disobedience to God. It’s everything that goes against the Word of God that represents the will of God) and you were of the devil.
The nature of the devil will do his will
You had the character and nature of your father the devil. In your fallen state, ma kontx kapaċi tissottometti lil Alla u tagħmel ir-rieda Tiegħu. Minflok, you lived after the will of the flesh in rebellion.
You were rebellious towards God and His Word and obedient to the words and will of the devil (ir-rieda, Lust, and desire of your flesh), u għexet fid-dnub. Il-Bibbja tgħid, li jekk idnub, you have the devil as father and do the lust thereof (John 8:44).
When you decided li jindem, indirettament għedt li ma ridtx li jkollok aktar ix-xitan bħala missierek. Ma ridtx tobdi kliemu u timxi fir-rieda tiegħu. Int xbajt b’ħajtek taħt l-awtorità tiegħu.
Meta smajt il-kliem ta 'l-Evanġelju u ltqajt ma' Ġesù Kristu, int emmint fih u aċċettajtu bħala s-Salvatur u l-Mulej tiegħek.
Int ridt lil Alla bħala Missierek minflok ix-xitan u tobdi kliemu u timxi fir-rieda tiegħu. Ma ridtx tobdi l-kliem tax-xitan u timxi fir-rieda tiegħu.
In-natura ta 'Alla se tagħmel ir-rieda Tiegħu
From the moment you are born again and receive the nature of your Father God, you will long for Him and the things of His Kingdom. There must be a desire to do the will of God and to walk according to what God says.
A real father knows what is good for his child. A real father wants the best for his child. Jekk missier fuq l-art irid l-aħjar għal uliedu, kemm aktar Missierkom tas-sema.
Huwa għalhekk li, God revealed His will to us in His Word (il-Bibbja).
God revealed to us not only what pleases Him and what displeases Him, but He also revealed the way of salvation, kif issir ħolqien ġdid and how to walk as the new creation in His will.
God revealed it all in the Bible which is His Word. Biex b'hekk, Il-mod tiegħu jsir il-mod tiegħek U His thoughts becomes your thoughts.
Did the people choose to sin or not to sin?
Ġesù qal lir-raġel, li kien imfejjaq mill-mard tiegħu u l-mara, li nqabad fl-att ta’ adulterju, biex ma jidnubx aktar. Għalhekk, these people had the power to sin no more. They had the power to say ‘no to sin’. But did they obey the commandment of Jesus and choose to sin no more or not?
Ġesù qallu, Tħobb lill-Mulej Alla tiegħek b’qalbek kollha, u b’ruħek kollha, u b’moħħok kollu. Dan hu l-ewwel u l-kbir kmandament. U t-tieni hija simili għaliha, Tħobb lill-proxxmu tiegħek bħalek innifsek. Fuq dawn iż-żewġ kmandamenti jiddendlu l-liġi u l-profeti kollha (Mattew 22:37-40)
Il-mara kellha s-setgħa li tgħid ‘le’ għall-adulterju, għax inkella, Ġesù ma kienx jagħtiha l-kmandament biex ma dnubx aktar. Il-mistoqsija hija, il-mara wieġbet lil Ġesù’ kmandament biex ma jidnubx aktar?
Did the adulterous woman obey the commandment of Jesus or did she let her feelings, xewqa tagħha, and her desire rule over the words of Jesus and give in to her feelings of lust and desire?
Ftakar, meta Ġesù ordna biex ma jidnubx aktar, His crucifixion and the tferrigħ tal-Ispirtu s-Santu had not taken place yet.
So these people were not born again. Kienu għadhom il-ħolqien antik. However the old creation had the power to say ‘no’ li jidnub u li ma jidnubx aktar.
Int ukoll għandek is-setgħa li ma dnubx aktar. Inti tiddeċiedi li tidnub jew le.
Permezz tal- xogħol fidwa ta’ Ġesù Kristu, inti ġejt qaddis u ġust. Issa li ġejt qaddis u ġust, inti wkoll ġejt imsejjaħ biex tgħix fil-qdusija u t-tjieba (2 Korintin 5:21).
Salvati bil-grazzja u jagħmlu l-opri tal-Ispirtu
M'intix salvat minn xogħlijiet, but by grace. Imma li tkun taħt il-grazzja ma jfissirx li titħalla tibqa’ dineb. Għax jekk ġisimkom miet fi Kristu meta twelidt mill-ġdid, kif tista’ tagħmel ix-xogħlijiet tal-laħam?
Għandek tħobb lill-Mulej Alla tiegħek b’qalbek kollha, u b’ruħek kollha u b’moħħok kollu u għandek tħobb lill-proxxmu tiegħek bħalek innifsek (Mattew 22:37-40)
When you are saved and born again, you see the nature and effect of sin, li hu frott il-mewt. You will hate sin, eżatt bħal Alla. Int se tobgħod il-ħajja tiegħek ta’ qabel bħala midneb u ma terġax lura għaliha. (Aqra wkoll: Tista 'tibqa' dnub taħt il-grazzja?)
Meta int ħobb lil Alla b’qalbek kollha, ruħ, moħħok, u s-saħħa għandek tħobb tagħmel ir-rieda Tiegħu.
You shall spend time with God and renew your mind with the Word of God (il-Bibbja) and apply His words into your life, sabiex inti ssir tagħmel il-kliem ta 'Alla u tagħmel l-opri ta' l-Ispirtu. M'għandekx għalfejn, imma trid, għax int ġejt magħmul fix-xebh tiegħu u tħobb lil Alla.
Meta l-Kelma u l-Ispirtu s-Santu jgħammru ġewwa fik, int se timxi wara l-Ispirtu b’ubbidjenza lejn il-Kelma. Inti se timxi fl-imħabba, qdusija, u tjieba, tagħmel ir-rieda tal-Missier u tgħollih u nigglorifikawh.
