God’s work of redemption would reconcile man back to God and restore the position of fallen man. It all began with a tree and it ended with a tree; te satauro.
God’s work of redemption for fallen man
Ua here roa te Atua i te ao nei, ua horo'a'tu oia i To'na Tamaiti hoê roa, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, te ora râ. Aita hoi te Atua i tono mai i Ta'na Tamaiti i te ao nei no te faahapa i te ao nei; ia faaora râ te ao nei na roto ia'na (John 3:16,17)
Jesus served His whole life; He served His Father and people, hō'ai the commandments of His Father, Te raveraa i te maitai, e healing all, that were oppressed by the devil (Ā'ati'a 10:38).
Jesus represented His Father; He was a reflection of His Father.
Ua parau Iesu, that if a person had seen Him, ua ite atoa oia i te Metua (John 14:9). And in John 14:6-7, Ua parau maua:
O vau te e'a, te parau mau, e te ora: aita e taata e haere mai i te Metua, but by me. Ahiri oe i ite, e, e mea ti'a ia'na ia ite i to'u Metua: e mai te mea e, ua ite outou Ia'na, Ua ite oia i te iteraa Ia'na.
Jesus is the only Way, aita e tahi atu! Ia tatou, therefore look at God’s perfect work of redemption, na roto ia Iesu Mesia.
Jesus went to the garden of Gethsemane
The work of redemption began in the garden of Gethsemane, when Jesus’ soul was sorrowful. Ua pure Iesu i te Metua ma te parau atu: “Metua tāne, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: e ere râ i to'u hinaaro, area To oe, ia ravehia”.
Jesus knew the time had come that He would be handed over into the hands of sinners, and die for all sinners.
During his prayer, an angel appeared unto Him from heaven, to strengthen Him. And being in an agony He prayed more earnestly: and His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground (Luka 22:42-44).
Jesus conquered this deadly fear inside of HIm. He had to fight against His soul. Jesus conquered His soul (A tai'o atoa: ‘Te faati'araa o te varua‘).
Now Jesus was ready to continue the mission of His Father, and go to the whipping post and the cross.
Jesus went to the whipping post
After His prayer, and when Jesus returned to His disciples, He was betrayed by one of His disciples, and was taken captive. After many interrogations, He was scourged. When Jesus was scourged at the whipping post, He bore our sickness and disease.
Ua amo mau Oia i to tatou mau oto, e ua amo i to tatou mau oto: tera râ, ua mana'o matou e ua tairihia Oia, ua tairihia e te Atua, e te mauiui. Tera râ, ua pepe Oia no ta tatou mau ofatiraa ture, Ua hamani-ino-hia oia no ta tatou mau ino: Ua tuuhia te faautuaraa no to tatou hau i ni'a Ia'na; e ua faaorahia tatou na roto i To'na mau pepe (Isaiah 53:4,5)
Na'na iho i amo i ta tatou mau hara i ni'a i te tumu raau i roto i To'na iho tino, e tatou, te poheraa no te mau hara, ia ora i ni'a i te parau-ti'a:Ua faaorahia outou na roto i to'na mau pepe (1 Peter 2:24)
The crown of thorns
The crown of thorns, that the soldiers put on Jesus’ head could be a symbol of the oppression of man, but that’s my interpretation. Because in the Old Testament when they spoke of thorns, they referred to people:
Teie râ, mai te peu e eita outou e tiavaru i te feia e parahi ra i te fenua i mua ia outou; i muri iho e tupu te reira, e te feia ta outou e vaiiho ia toe, e riro ïa ei mau tataramoa i roto i to outou mata, e ei tataramoa i roto i to outou mau avae, e e hamani ino oia ia outou i te fenua ta outou e parahi ra (Ua numera 33:55)
Ia ite maitai outou e, eita te Fatu, to outou Atua, e tiavaru faahou i te hoê a'e o teie mau nunaa i mua ia outou; e riro râ oia ei mau ma'i e ei mau ma'i no outou, e te mau aiû i to outou mau pae, e te mau tataramoa i roto i to outou mata, e tae roa'tu i te taime ua pohe outou i teie fenua maitai ta Iehova, to outou Atua, i horo'a ia outou (Joshua 23:13)
Teie râ, e riro te mau tamarii a Belial ei mau tataramoa i tairihia, no te mea eita e nehenehe e hopuhia e te rima (2 Samuela 23:6)
The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ
I muri iho ua tae mai te taime, that Jesus was chosen by the people, instead of Barabbas (te hoê taata taparahi taata), ia faasataurohia. The devil thought that he was smart, he thought that by crucifying Jesus, he was getting rid of Jesus, and he could continue to build his kingdom on this earth. Na roto i te tahi atu mau parau, he thought: good riddance! (A tai'o atoa: ‘O Iesu aore ra ia Baraba, o vai tei maiti?‘)
Teie râ, ua hape te diabolo. Because this was all part of God’s work of redemption. Ua rave Iesu i te mau hara atoa, o te ao nei, i ni'a Ia'na. Iesu, O vai tei pohe ma te hara ore, was made sin and was sacrificed, in order to reconcile man back to God, I te tahi taime. From the sixth till the ninth hour, there was darkness over all the land.
Then at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, ma'ohi'ohi: “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabakatani?”
These words mean: “To'u Atua, To'u Atua, no te aha oe i faaru'e ai ia'u??”
Jesus had always been joint together with His Father; hoê ratou. Jesus was never separated from Him, until sin came upon Him.
God is holy and can never have fellowship with sin, therefore Jesus was separated from His Father. Ua ta'i o Iesu ma te reo puai, e ua faaru'e i te varua.
I te poheraa o Iesu, ua amahamaha te arapoa o te hiero mai nia mai e tae atu i raro (Mareko 15:33-39).
Na'na iho i amo i ta tatou mau hara i ni'a i te tumu raau i roto i To'na iho tino, e tatou, te poheraa no te mau hara, ia ora i ni'a i te parau-ti'a: by whose stripes you were healed (1 Peter 2:24)
Jesus took our punishment upon Himself
We should have been punished, because we are the sinners and not Jesus. We should have been scourged in hell. But because of the great love and mercy of God, Jesus took the punishment, which was meant for us, i ni'a Ia'na iho.
Through the blood of Jesus and regeneration in Him, we are reconciled with God and live in unity with God in Christ Jesus. na roto i te baptism with water e te Varua Mo'a, we have crucified our sinful nature and received God’s nature inside of us.
When you receive His nature inside of you, the process of sanctification will start. E ā'a 'ite faaapî i to outou feruriraa i te parau a te Atua. And instead of walking after the flesh (after your senses, mana'o, Ō'opa, Te mau mana'o, Te mau nota, hina'aro, e tē vai atura.), you shall walk after the Spirit according to the Word in the will of God.
The Holy Spirit is your Comforter and your Teacher. I piha'i iho Ia'na, you shall be able to serve God, Iesu Mesia, and men. Mai ia Iesu ana'e.
Jesus took the keys of hell and death
After Jesus died, He legally entered Hades. Ua tomo Iesu i roto i te mau Hades, because Jesus was made sin; He had taken all sin and iniquity upon Himself. Jesus was in Hades for three days and preached. I muri a'e e toru mahana, Ua rave Iesu i te mau taviri o te diabolo, pohe, and Hades legally back.
Mai ta Jonas e toru mahana e e toru pô i roto i te opu o te tohora; e e vai noa te Tamaiti a te taata i roto i te mafatu o te fenua e toru mahana e e toru pô (Mataio 12:40)
No teie tumu i porohia ' i te evanelia i te feia i pohe, ia haavahia ratou ia au i te mau taata i te pae tino, ia ora râ ia au i te Atua i roto i te varua (1 Peter 4:6)
O vau Oia te ora nei, e ua pohe oia; e, fa'a'ōfa'i, Te ora nei au e a muri noa'tu, mā'ea'ea; e te mau taviri o te pohe e te pohe (Tō'o'a 1:18)
Ua upooti'a Iesu i ni'a i te pohe e na roto i te mana o te Varua Mo'a, Ua faaho'i-faahou-hia mai oia i te pohe. Hoê â Varua, Who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in us (Roma 8:11).
Jesus is alive and is seated at the right hand of God. He lives, and we may live in Him. Jesus gave us His whole legacy, through His work of redemption.
God’s work of redemption was a work of perfection!
'Ia riro ei miti no te fenua’
