There are so many stories in the Bible about the subject of waiting. I could have written many more blog posts about this subject, but I won’t. I will write just two more blog posts about the subject of waiting, yaiku: Waiting for the promise of the Messiah and waiting for the promise of the return of the Messiah (which is still to come). The most important promise of God to man was the promise of the coming of the Messiah: Yesus Kristus.
God’s first promise of the Messiah
I will put enmity between thee and the woman, Lan ing antarane wiji lan wiji; iku bakal nyirami sirahe, lan sampeyan bakal nyemburake tumit (Purwaning Dumadi 3:15)
Sawise manungsa dosa, by disobeying God, man became separated from God, God had already a new plan to redeem man from evil, and reunite them back to Him. Because all He wanted, was to have a relationship with man.
God had already created a plan, to take the authority from the devil and give it back to man. The devil had taken it wrongfully, but God would take it back in a legal manner.
The first time that God spoke about the promise of the Messiah is in Genesis 3. He spoke about the One, that would deliver the people out of satan’s hand and bring them back to God.
Sing siji, Who would take the keys of authority saka setan, and would reign together with man. Mesias, of Whom God spoke, was Jesus.
After God told the serpent (setan) manawa wiji wong wadon bakal nyembur sirahe, the serpent tried everything he could, to prevent this from happening. He tried to destroy the seed of the woman (I will write about this in the near future), but he did not succeed.
Tekane Mesias
Did the Messiah come right away? Ora, it took more than 2000 years before the promise of God; the coming of the Messiah came to pass. But despite the fact, that it took more than 2000 taun, God kept His promise.
At the perfect time, the Messiah came. All the prophecies regarding the birth, Urip, pati, and resurrection of the Messiah, have ALL come to pass.
Amarga kasunyatane, that all the prophecies came to pass, and are still coming to pass regarding the end of times and the return of the Messiah, bukti, sing Word of God is reliable, and is the Truth.
The birth of Jesus Christ
Ing Yesaya 7:14 we read the prophecy about the birth of Christ: Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Lah, prawan bakal ngandheg, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
The life of Jesus
Many prophets wrote about the life of Jesus, i.e. the prophet Isaiah:
Lah, Pangéran Allah bakal rawuh kanthi tangan sing kuwat, and his arm shall rule for him: lah, his reward is with him, and his work before him. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, lan bakal mimpin alon-alon sing lagi ngandhut (Yesaya 40:10-11).
(I would like to encourage you to study Ezekiel chapter 34 lan 37 as well)
But ofcourse, there are many more scriptures about Jesus Christ, Mesias. The whole Word testifies about Jesus, Putraning Allah.
The death of Jesus
In the Book Isaiah, we read about His death:
Mesthi dheweke wis nanggung sato, lan nggawa kasusahan: Nanging kita padha ngajeni dheweke, ngiringan dewa, lan nandhang sangsara. Nanging Panjenengané wis tatu marga saka panerak kita, Dheweke bruised kanggo kaluputan kita: Penyebaran tentrem kita yaiku; lan kanthi belang-belangé kita padha mari. Kabeh kita kaya wedhus wis kesasar; kita kabeh padha mratobat marang dalane dhewe-dhewe; lan Gusti wis ndhawahake piala kita kabeh marang Panjenengane. Dheweke ditindhes, lan dheweke nandhang sangsara, Nanging dheweke ora mbukak cangkeme: Dheweke digawa kaya cempe kanggo mateni, lan minangka wedhus sadurunge shearers dheweke bisu, Dadi dheweke ora mbukak cangkeme.
Dheweke dijupuk saka pakunjaran lan saka pengadilan: lan sapa kang bakal martakake turune? For He was cut off out of the land of the living: marga saka panerake umatingSun, Panjenengane digebugi. And He made His grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; amarga Panjenengane ora nindakake panganiaya, lan ora ana cidra ing cangkeme. Nanging seneng marang Sang Yehuwah kanggo nyirami dheweke; Panjenengane wis nyepelekake sedhih: nalika Paduka badhe nyaosaken nyawanipun minangka kurban pangruwating dosa, Dheweke bakal weruh turunane, He shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. Dheweke bakal weruh babagan travail jiwane, lan bakal wareg: Kanthi kawruh bakal dadi abdi sing bener; Amarga Panjenengane bakal nanggung piala.
Mulane aku bakal mbagi dheweke bagean karo sing gedhe, lan bakal dibagi barang-barang sing kuwat; because He hath poured out his soul unto death: lan dheweke cacahe karo wong sing nglanggar; lan dheweke nyandhang dosane, lan nggawe syafaid kanggo pelanggaran (Yesaya 53:4-12)
Ing Masmur 22, we read about the crucifixion of Jesus, and what He endured during the crucifixion.
Jesus confirmed, what the prophets wrote about the Messiah and said:
Aku iki Pangon sing apik: Pangon kang becik masrahake nyawane kanggo wedhus-wedhus (John 10:11).
The resurrection of Jesus
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption (Jabur 16:10)
Not only in Psalm 16:10, we read about His resurrection, Jesus also confirmed His resurrection to the people, ing Matius 12:40:
Kanggo kaya Jonas telung dina lan telung bengi ing weteng paus; Mangkono uga Putraning Manungsa Dadi Telung Dina lan Telung Bengi Ing Bumi.
There are many more Scriptures about the birth, Urip, death and resurrection of Jesus (Babagan 44 Scriptures), but I won’t overload you with all 44 Scriptures. You can look them up and study them for yourself.
We can read about the promise of the Messiah and the fulfilment, throughout the Bible. God never forgot His promise, even though it lasted more than 2000 taun.
God repeated His promise many times. He spoke through the mouth of His servants, marang wong-wong, to remind them of the promise. God didn’t lie, He spoke the truth.
The promises of God will come to pass
Aku pengin nyengkuyung sampeyan, that when God gives you a promise, He will make sure that it will come to pass. But sometimes it may take a while. It will happen at His time, and not your time.
All you have to do, is to trust Him completely, and wait. Tetep ing Sabdané, and get to know Him better. The more you will know Him, luwih-luwih kowé bakal precaya marang Panjenengané, and the stronger your faith will become. Aja tumindak bodho, don’t take matters into your own hand, nanging ngenteni….
