Pentecost is a Christian feast that is celebrated every year. Την ημέρα της Πεντηκοστής, Christians remember the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The coming of the Holy Spirit was needed for humanity. Αλλά γιατί? What is the significance of Pentecost and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit according to the Bible?
The promise of the Father
When they therefore were come together, they asked of Him, ρητό, Αρχοντας, wilt Thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? Και τους είπε, Δεν είναι για σας να γνωρίζετε τις εποχές ή τις εποχές, which the Father hath put in His own power. But ye shall receive power, μετά από αυτό το Άγιο Πνεύμα έρχεται επάνω σας: και θα γίνετε μάρτυρες για μένα και οι δύο στην Ιερουσαλήμ, και σε όλη την Ιουδαία, και στη Σαμάρεια, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when He had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight (Πράξεις 1:6-9)
Μετά τον Ιησού’ ανάσταση, Ο Ιησούς ξόδεψε 40 μέρες με τους μαθητές Του. Jesus taught His disciples about the Kingdom of God.
When Jesus and His disciples were on Mount Olives, Jesus commanded His disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Father.
The disciples thought, that Jesus referred to the restoration of the kingdom of Israel. But Jesus spoke about another kingdom: ο Βασίλειο του Θεού.
Jesus answered His disciples, that it was not for them to know the times or the season. Because only the Father knew.
Jesus continued and promised that they would receive power after that the Holy Ghost would come upon them. Και τι, they be His witnesses and preach the gospel and bring the Word into all the world.
Μετά τον Ιησού ανέβηκε στον ουρανό, the disciples returned to Jerusalem, to the upper room.
Στο πάνω δωμάτιο, Ιησούς’ disciples waited for the promise of the Holy Ghost.
the disciples waited for the promise of the Holy Ghost during the Feast of the first fruits
While the disciples were in the upper room in Jerusalem, the celebration of the Feast of Weeks took place. This Feast of Weeks is also known as the Feast of the First Fruits (Feast of Pentecost).
The Jewish men came from all over the world to the temple in Jerusalem. They went to the temple, to give God their first fruits. They gave God a freewill offering of their hands and rejoiced before the Lord their God. On that day, they remembered the time that they were a bondman in Egypt.
The celebration of the Feast of Weeks took place at the same time that the disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ were together in the upper room. While the disciples were praying, they waited for the promise of the Holy Ghost.
They didn’t know, that they would become the first fruits of the new creation on the day of the celebration of the Feast of the First Fruits.
What happened on the day of Pentecost?
On the Day of Pentecost the disciples of Jesus received the promise of the Father and were filled with the Holy Ghost. On that wonderful Day of Pentecost, the birth of the new creations took place in Jerusalem.
During the Feast of Weeks, ο 120 disciples were together in the upper room. And while they prayed, the Holy Ghost came upon the disciples.
Όταν έφτασε η ημέρα της Πεντηκοστής, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, και γέμισε όλο το σπίτι που κάθονταν. Και φάνηκαν σ' αυτούς χωρισμένες γλώσσες σαν από φωτιά, and it sat upon each of them And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, και άρχισε να μιλάει με άλλες γλώσσες, as the Spirit gave them utterance And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, ευσεβείς άνδρες, out of every nation under heaven.
Τώρα όταν αυτό θορυβήθηκε στο εξωτερικό, το πλήθος μαζεύτηκε, και μπερδεύτηκαν, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, λέγοντας ο ένας στον άλλο, Βλέπω, δεν είναι όλοι αυτοί που μιλούν Γαλιλαίοι? Και πώς ακούμε ο καθένας στη γλώσσα μας, όπου γεννηθήκαμε? Πάρθοι, και Μήδους, και Ελαμίτες, και οι κάτοικοι στη Μεσοποταμία, και στην Ιουδαία, και Καππαδοκία, στον Πόντο, και την Ασία, Φρυγία, και την Παμφυλία, στην Αίγυπτο, και στα μέρη της Λιβύης περί Κυρήνης, και ξένοι της Ρώμης, Εβραίοι και προσήλυτοι, Κρήτης και Άραβες, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. And they were all amazed, και ήταν σε αμφιβολία, λέγοντας ο ένας στον άλλο, Τι σημαίνει αυτό? Άλλοι κοροϊδεύοντας είπαν, Αυτοί οι άντρες είναι γεμάτοι νέο κρασί(Πράξεις 2:1-13)
Την ημέρα της Πεντηκοστής, the spirit of man was raised from the dead
What God lost in the Κήπος της Εδέμ returned to Him in the upper room; His sons and daughter. When the Holy Ghost came upon the disciples, their spirit quickened and rose from the dead. Through the baptism with the Holy Ghost, they received God’s Spirit and nature.
Έγιναν μια νέα δημιουργία; a new species as foretold in the Bible. It was the end of the carnal nature of the old (πεσμένος) άνθρωπος (the devil’s nature) and the beginning of the new spiritual nature of the new man (η φύση του Θεού).
It was the beginning of a Νέα Συμφωνία in the Spirit sealed by the precious blood of Jesus. The Holy Spirit quickened man’s spirit and reunited the spirit of the believers in Christ with the Spirit of God.
Την ημέρα της Πεντηκοστής, the new creation was born
Και έτσι έγινε, that on the Day of Pentecost, the new creation was born. The new creation lives no longer in a fallen state. But the new creation has been made whole in Jesus Christ and is seated in Him and operates in Η εξουσία του και τη δύναμη του Αγίου Πνεύματος.
The disciples were no longer slaves of the old sinful nature of fallen man and the devil. But the disciples became masters over sin and death and masters over the devil and evil spirits (δαίμονες).
Before they received the Holy Ghost and became a new creation, their spirit was dead.
They were natural and controlled and led by their flesh (Αισθήσεις, Σαρκικός νους (Σκέψεις), Συναισθήματα, Συναισθήματα, βούληση, Επιθυμίες, και επιθυμίες). They were dead in trespasses and sins (Ω. Εφεσίους 2, 1 Πέτρος 4:1-6, Κολοσσαείς 3:5-11).
Therefore the coming of the Holy Spirit came with a visible and audible manifestation.
The disciples heard a sound, coming from heaven, as of a mighty wind. And there appeared unto them, cloven tongues like as of fire, και κάθισε πάνω σε καθένα από αυτά.
The promise of Jesus was fulfilled, which was the promise of the Holy Ghost that the Father sent in His Name.
Την ημέρα της Πεντηκοστής, the Holy Ghost came upon them and they became part of the (πνευματικός) Body of Jesus Christ; την Εκκλησία.
They received His Spirit and nature. The Holy Ghost took His place in their bodies and their bodies became His dwelling place; His temple.
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the speaking in other tongues
είπε ο Ιησούς, that they would be His witnesses on all the earth. When the disciples received the baptism with the Holy Ghost, they began to speak in other tongues. The Holy Ghost spoke through them and witnessed of Jesus Christ the Messiah and the marvelous works of God. As Jesus said to His disciples, the Holy Ghost would be His witness. And that’s exactly what happened on the Day of Pentecost. Επειδή το 120 disciples began to speak in new tongues and spoke in all kinds of different languages.
Οι Εβραίοι άνδρες, who came from other countries and were all gathered together in Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of the Weeks, heard this sound.
They came together and heard them speaking in their own languages.
The Jewish men were amazed and marveled. How could these unskilled Galileans speak in their own languages about the marvelous works of God? How was that possible?
They didn’t know, that the Holy Ghost spoke through them about the marvelous works of God.
Then Peter stood up with the 11 disciples and spoke boldly. Peter, που είχε αρνήθηκε τον Ιησού three times, because he was afraid for the people and his own life, now stood up in boldness. And in the power of the Holy Ghost, Peter spoke boldly to them.
How The words of the prophet Joel were fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost
Την ημέρα της Πεντηκοστής, the words of the prophet Joel, that God would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh were fulfilled. Peter confirmed this event. Peter testified του Ιησού; ο Υιός του Θεού και ο Ζωντανός Λόγος. He testified of the promise, which God gave by the prophet Joel.
Θα συμβεί μετά, that I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh; και οι γιοι σας και οι κόρες σας θα προφητεύουν, οι γέροι σας θα ονειρεύονται όνειρα, οι νέοι σας θα δουν οράματα: Και επίσης στους υπηρέτες και στις υπηρέτριες εκείνες τις ημέρες θα εκχύσω το πνεύμα μου. Και θα κάνω θαύματα στους ουρανούς και στη γη, αίμα, και φωτιά, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, και το φεγγάρι στο αίμα, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come. And it shall come to pass, ότι όποιος επικαλεσθεί το όνομα του Κυρίου θα ελευθερωθεί (Τζόελ 2:28-32)
Peter witnessed of Jesus the Christ, Ο θάνατός του, και ανάσταση. When the people heard Peter preach, they were all pricked in the heart and asked what they had to do
τους απάντησε ο Πέτρος, "Μετανοώ και να είναι Βαφτιστεί every one of you in the Όνομα Ιησού Χριστού για την άφεση των αμαρτιών, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost”.
They obeyed Peter’s words and were baptized. And on the Day of Pentecost, για 3000 souls were added to the Church; Το σώμα του Χριστού.
The first fruits of the new creation on the Day of Pentecost
What a perfect timing of God! On that Day of Pentecost, on the Day of the Feast of the Weeks (Feast of the First Fruits), when the Jewish people were gathered from every nation, στην Ιερουσαλήμ, the promise of the Holy Spirit came.
At the right moment; on the right day and at the right time, God came and revealed Himself through the other Comforter, the Holy Spirit and about 3120 became the first fruits of Η νέα δημιουργία.
