Consulting spirits is a well-known phenomenon, but many people are not aware of the danger of consulting spirits. There are various reasons why People consult spirits. They are curious about their future or seek insight in the spiritual realm and secret knowledge and wisdom, or they want to consult the dead and communicate with a deceased relative, friend, or acquaintance. People used to go to a medium, a witch doctor, or a shaman, who have familiar spirits and can communicate with spirits and the dead. However, nowadays, people consult spirits themselves and communicate with spirits and the dead, and speak to the ghosts of ancestors. They communicate with spirits (of the dead) through means of a pendulum, a glass, candles, mirrors, a three-legged table, pictures, games (Ouija board game, pencil game; Charlie Charlie challenge), spirit and ghost apps, meditation, occult ceremonies, trance, etc. But why is consulting spirits dangerous? What does the Bible say about consulting spirits and the dead, and the occult practice of divination?
What is the Charlie Charlie challenge?
The Charlie Charlie challenge, aka the pencil game, is very popular among students. Many students are lured into the occult realm through curiosity. Because isn’t this a great and easy way to find out what will happen in the future? The only things you need are two pencils, a piece of paper and consult a spirit called Charlie. That’s it!
The Charlie Charlie challenge is a variant of the Ouija game. The essence of these games is that by consulting the spirits of the dead (demons), you will get answers to your questions by using a pointer tool; pencils, pointer, etc.
But what happens when you consult spirits and get an unpleasant or undesirable answer? Or something else happens that you have not asked for? What happens when these spirits show up in your life and start harassing and tormenting you? Are these spirit games really innocent or not?
Is consulting spirits and consulting the dead indeed harmless as so many people say and believe or not? Let’s look at the danger of consulting spirits.
What happens in the spiritual realm when you are consulting spirits (of the dead)?
What many people often don’t know is when you participate and start consulting spirits, you enter the spirit realm in your own power (soulish power) and become a partaker of the spiritual occult realm, and you will pay the price for that. You can’t move in the occult realm without any consequences.
You enter the spiritual realm in your own power (soul power), and by consulting spirits and the dead, you invite evil spirits (demons) to enter your life.
These evil spirits enter your life and give what you asked for and take possession of your life (body and soul).
The devil wants you to become a partaker of the occult. Because when you enter his territory, he enters your life, takes possession of your life, and causes a lot of harm, problems, and pain in your life.
The devil and his demons want to communicate with people, possess people, and live in people. Because people are their access into the natural realm.
They have one mission, which is to destroy people (humanity), because they are the crown of God’s creation.
Many church visitors move into the occult
If you become a partaker of witchcraft by consulting spirits and inquire them, the devil and demons are more than willing to give you what you asked for. They will give you (secret) knowledge and wisdom, which are, in reality, lies from the darkness. They give you what you’ve asked for. However, they don’t give it freely. They always want something in return, which is your life.
There are a lot of people who partake in witchcraft, even people who say they’re Christians and go to church.
How many ‘Christians’ go to church and visit a fortune-teller, consult spirits, read their horoscope, and practice witchcraft? How many ‘Christians’ have a familiar spirit?
Yes, you read that correctly, even reading a horoscope is a source of fortune telling. When you read a horoscope, even if it’s just for fun, you open the door for familiar spirits (demons) to enter your life.
You can’t play with the devil
You can’t play with the devil, not even a little bit. As soon as you enter his territory, he catches you and takes you captive, despite your intentions. The devil takes you captive, torments you, and eventually destroys you because that’s his character. Even if you didn’t mean to, that doesn’t matter to him. He takes you captive.
It may all seem like a game to you, but it isn’t a game to him.
As soon as you consult and invite him, evil spirits, familiar spirits, and spirits of witchcraft, divination, sexual uncleanness, depression, fear, anxiety, insomnia, deception, paranoia, and death enter your life. These evil spirits cause mental problems and illness in your life.
It could be that only one evil spirit (demon) enters. But it’s also possible that more evil spirits will enter your life.
These evil spirits can manifest immediately or after a while. But one thing is certain: they will enter your life and manifest in your life.
It could be that you suddenly hear audible voices in your head, telling you what to do. These are the voices of evil spirits, who control your mind and by obeying them, control your life.
You need a higher authority to make evil spirits leave your life
These evil spirits won’t leave by themselves because why should they? After all, you invited them into your life. Only someone with a higher authority and power can make them leave, and that Someone is, of course, Jesus Christ!
Only in the Name of Jesus Christ; in His authority, a person can be set free of every oppression, bondage, and possession of the devil!
There is no other way, and no other person, who can deliver a person. Not a psychologist, a psychiatrist, a (witch)doctor, a shaman, nor by therapies, rituals, or medicines.
Only Jesus Christ can set you free!
There are many people, who were not aware of the danger of consulting spirits and have become involved in the occult, through divination, witchcraft, fortune-telling, necromancy, etc., and suffer pain and torment in their souls and bodies (mental disorders and physical illness).
Sometimes, their mental disorders are so severe that they have to be hospitalized. They get treatment for their mental disorder and are given drugs (medicines) to control them.
However, the drugs will not cure the person. The drugs will only eliminate particular functions in their brains (mind) and their body. So that these evil spirits won’t manifest themselves.
But drugs don’t cast out demons and cure the person.
How people’s curiosity leads to spiritual bondage and torment
How many people are held captive in isolation and are tormented and ravaged by these evil spirits? Only because they were curious about their future or wanted to gain more secret wisdom or speak with a deceased family member or friend because they missed them?
Unfortunately, doctors, psychologists, and their treatments (including drugs) can’t help the suffering patient one bit. Why is that? Because the cause of their problem is in the spiritual realm, not in the physical realm (natural realm).
These demons come from the spiritual realm, but manifest themselves in the natural realm, in the life of a person. Therefore, these demons can only be cast out by a person with a higher power of authority in the spiritual realm.
Evil spirits can’t be cast out through natural means, like drugs, treatments, therapies, occult methods and rituals, etc.
When a person with a mental disorder is hospitalized or locked up in a treatment center, the situation will not become better; but it will only become worse and end up in death.
These evil spirits can only be cast out in the Name of Jesus. Only by Jesus and His blood, a person be delivered and set free from these evil spirits.
What does the Bible say about consulting spirits?
The Bible forbids consulting spirits and says the following about consulting spirits:
Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God (Leviticus 19:31)
And the soul that turns after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people. Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the Lord your God (Leviticus 20:6-7)
There shall not be found among you any one that makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that uses divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee (Deuteronomy 18:10-12)
And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward. And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness (Isaiah 8:19-22)
What happens in your life when you become involved in the occult?
When you go to someone with a familiar spirit- a wizard, a witch (doctor), a medium, a charmer, a fortune-teller, a shaman, a consulter with familiar spirits, or a necromancer- you will be defiled; contaminated, and unclean.
When you consult and inquire spirits by yourself or with a group of people, you will also be defiled by the kingdom of darkness.
A familiar spirit enters and takes other spirits with him to possess you. Your wisdom may increase, and maybe you can predict the future through channeling spirits, but the devil and these evil spirits will control your life.
What happened to Saul when he consulted a medium and brought up Samuel?
In the life of Saul, we see what eventually happened after he consulted a woman with a familiar spirit in Endor and consulted a dead person (Samuel): Saul committed suicide (1 Samuel 28:7-25; 31:4-5).
You should only consult God and the Word of God and nothing or no one else. You shouldn’t be curious about future events or have the desire to speak to a deceased family member or friend, but you should lay your life into the hands of God and trust God for the future.
Sometimes, God reveals things to you, and sometimes, God won’t. But if you make and keep Jesus, the Word, the center of your life, and make Him your Rock and Refuge, then all things will be well.
Has the Church become a social institution?
Over the years, the church has become a social institution instead of a powerful force of God. There is little or no power anymore. The Church, which is the Body of Christ with Jesus Christ as the Head, should be the most powerful spiritual institution on earth. However, what happens nowadays is that instead of setting people free and delivering them from the oppression of the darkness, many churches direct people to doctors, psychologists, and other worldly institutions.
The church has become a carnal, humanistic, and social institution built upon the knowledge and the works of man, instead of Jesus Christ, the Living Word, and His work.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in Him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in Him, which is the Head of all principality and power: In Whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God, Who hath raised Him from the dead (Colossians 2:8-12)
The church should repent of its terrible deeds and return to Jesus; the Word, and build upon Him.
It’s about time that the church gets to know its real enemy and start recognizing and acknowledging the spiritual realm, and the spiritual war they are in.
It’s about time that they learn about God’s Kingdom, which is a spiritual Kingdom. But the only way that someone can learn about God’s Kingdom and enter the Kingdom is by becoming born again in the spirit, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Christians, arise and get to know the Word and establish the Kingdom of God on earth
It’s time to rise up in the Word, to get to know the Word; Jesus. To become a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven; a son of God (this applies to both males and females), who walks after the Spirit, and not after the flesh, and establish the Kingdom of God upon this earth.
How can we, as a church, establish the Kingdom of God on earth? By obeying God and doing His will and bringing the good news of Jesus Christ, which draws people to repentance, and setting people free from the oppression of the devil and destroying the works of darkness.
There are so many people, who are tormented and suffer from the oppression of the devil. They go to physicians, but no one can help them.
Jesus Christ can set you free
Only the real sons of God can set people free in the Name of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God. I write the ‘real sons’ of God, because some Christians think they’re sons of God but live just like the world; having the same life as someone, who doesn’t know Jesus and has no relationship with God through Jesus.
They say they do, but they don’t. Because otherwise, they wouldn’t do the same works as the world and find ‘solutions’ for their problems in the secular world. I will write more about this and how the Word of God warns us of ministers of iniquity in another blog.
How to be delivered from the occult?
Maybe you are a Christian and have been consulting spirits and reading horoscopes, or maybe you went to a fortune-teller, medicine man, wizard, witch doctor, etc., and become involved in the occult and suffer from the oppression of the darkness and are looking for the way of deliverance.
If that’s you, then all you have to do is confess your sin, ask forgiveness to the Lord, and command these evil spirits to leave your body and your soul in the Name of Jesus.
If you doubt your authority in Jesus Christ and are not sure if you have the power to command these spirits of darkness to leave, then find someone, who does know his/her authority in Jesus Christ.
Find a Christian who can help you and can set you free from this oppression
The spiritual realm is real. Just because the unregenerate man can’t see the spiritual world doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist.
You can’t see the wind, but the wind exists because you see the results of the wind. However, you can’t control the wind via natural means (sources from the secular world (natural world)), that’s impossible.
It’s the same thing with evil spirits (demons). You can’t see them, but they do exist. Because you see the result of these spirits. However, you can’t control these evil spirits (demons) through natural means, by using natural tools, therapies, theories, techniques, medicines (drugs), etc.
Meditate on the Word day and night
Take the Bible, the Word of God, and renew your mind with His words. Meditate on the Word day and night and let the Word not depart from you. Abide in the word and grow up in the Word, so that you will grow up into the image of Jesus Christ.
If you are an unbeliever, and you have been consulting spirits, and have been a partaker of the occult, and you want to be set free from the powers of darkness, then call upon the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and repent and give your life to Him. Go to a church in your area that can set you free in the Name of Jesus Christ.
There is a way out; there is hope, and His Name is Jesus Christ, but it’s up to you to take the first step.
And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it (Colossians 2:15)
