Jesus came to the earth to preach and bring the Kingdom of God and destroy the works of the devil. Jesus obeyed the will of His Father and fulfilled His mission on earth. As God sent His Son Jesus, likewise Jesus sent Christians, who have become a new creation, to preach the gospel and destroy the works of the devil. Unfortunately, many Christians don’t obey Jesus’ commandment and don’t follow His example. They are deceived by the lies of the devil and carnal people, who may seem spiritual but are not. Instead of Christians destroying the works of the devil, they are destroying the works of God. How are Christians destroying the works of God instead of the works of the devil?
Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil
Everywhere Jesus went, Jesus destroyed the works of the devil. Jesus destroyed the works of the devil by preaching the truth of God and His Kingdom with authority, casting out demons, and healing the sick.
Jesus refuted the lies of the devil with the truth of God’s Word. He loosed the people, who were bound by the devil and redeemed them from his dominion.
At God’s time, Jesus went to Calvary and finished the only and greatest redemptive work for fallen man in history.
Jesus became the Substitute for fallen man. He took the sin and the punishment for sin upon Him, and died and entered Hades (hell).
For a little while, Jesus was put beneath the devil and the angels (Hebrews 2:9).
However the death was not strong enough to keep Jesus in Hades. The power of God loosed Jesus from the pains of death and He rose from the death as Victor with the keys from hell and death (Matthew 16:19, Acts 2:24, Revelation 1:18).
Jesus bruised the head of the devil, by taking his authority. Through His work of redemption, He gave everyone the ability to be healed (restored) in his position and be reconciled to God by faith in His work of redemption and through regeneration in Him .
God gave everyone, who believes the power to become a son of God (this applies to both males and females (John 1:12)).
The devil has the ability to seduce people
But although the devil lost his authority, he maintained his ability to deceive people with his lies and keep them in his kingdom and bind them to the death. The devil and his angels (demons) need people in whom they can manifest themselves and build the kingdom of darkness on earth.
The more people listen to the devil and walk according to his will and obey and fulfill the lusts and desires of the flesh and sin, the more power the devil gets.
The mission of the devil and his demons is to lose every person from God, through lawlessness and disobedience to His commandments, so that he can destroy God’s works (the creation; the earth and all there is within including people) and holy institutions (the church, family, marriage etc.)
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness (Ephesians 4:17-19)
The people, who are loosed from God and His Word and commandments, and are bound to the devil through the flesh and belong to him, have his mind; the carnal mind of the world.
The sons of the devil (both males and females) obey their father and live in the lie. Yes, they love the lie just like their father. They walk after the flesh and mind the things of the flesh and do the works of the devil.
To be carnally minded is death
But to be carnally minded is death. Because the carnal mind, from which all speech, behavior, and actions come forth, is enmity against God.
A carnal mind serves the flesh and is not subject to the law of God, which represents the will of God. A carnal mind does the will of the flesh.
Therefore, people who are carnal and live according to the will of the flesh are not able to please God (Romans 8:5-8).
Those, who belong to the devil and are his servants shall not do righteous works but unrighteous works and therefore sin.
They shall change and/or remove every commandment of God, every godly institution and covenant and by doing that destroy the works of God and His Kingdom.
They shall destroy the temple; the place where the congregation assembles and the crown of God’s creation; mankind Because by preaching their lies, they win souls for the devil and his kingdom and lead them straight to hell.
The carnal Christians destroy the works of God
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:7-8)
Carnal Christians who keep walking after the flesh as the old creation are deceived by the lies of the devil and follow the example of the world. Although they read the Bible, know the Bible by heart, and quote Bible verses, and say they believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, their works say something else.
Despite the fact that they speak the righteous words of God, they do the same unrighteous works of the world.
They compromise with evil and are partakers of the works of the devil.
Instead of binding themselves to God and build and establish the Kingdom of God on earth, they bind themselves to the devil and build his kingdom of darkness on earth.
They change the commandments of God, which are also the commandments of Jesus and adjust them to the will, lusts and desires of their flesh, so that they can keep walking after the flesh in sin without feeling guilty.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ (Colossians 2:8)
Through their own philosophies and opinions, which derive from their carnal minds and are controlled by the spirits of this world, they make their own set of rules and regulations, which make the Word of God of no effect.
They say they are Christians, but with their works they deny Christ.
What is the mission of the new creation?
The mission of the new creation is not to make the word of God of no effect and destroy the works of God, by doing the works of the devil. But the mission of the new creation is to do the works of God and destroy the works of the devil and his kingdom, just like the Lord Jesus.
The sons of God destroy the works of the devil
The sons of God no longer live as they lived before. They no longer walk in darkness in the vanity of their mind in sin. They’ve repented and walk in the light in righteousness and reprove the works of the devil.
For you were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them (Ephesians 5:8-11)
The true followers of Jesus Christ, who are born again in Him and have the Spirit of Christ, shall not follow and obey the spirit of this world.
They shall not exalt themselves above God and change or remove (destroy) His commandments, which represents His will, and walk in disobedience to His will in sin.
They shall not attack and destroy the covenants of God, like for example the marriage covenant between a man and a woman.
But His true followers shall submit to the will of their Father and keep His commandments and honor His covenants. They follow and obey His Word and His Holy Spirit and reprove and destroy the unfruitful works of darkness, just like Jesus.
Is God’s Word the highest authority in your life?
If God’s Word is the highest authority in your life, you shall do what God’s Word tells you to do. You believe, obey and apply His words into your life. You shall abide in the Word and do the Word, whereby you shall walk in the Light. Because the Word reveals the truth and the treasures of God’s Kingdom.
Without the Word, you’ll never find out the truth. You’ll never find out, who you really are as the new creation, as a son of God, and what you have inherited in Christ.
By the Word; Jesus Christ and regeneration in Him, you have been made the righteousness of God. When you study the Word, the Word will reveal the righteousness of God to you, so that you can walk in righteousness.
When you walk in the Light, you shall see the darkness
When you walk in righteousness in the Light, the darkness will be revealed. You shall see the darkness around you and see the spiritual filth and chaos of the world, which is revealed in the lives of people through all kinds of uncleanness.
You will see the works of the devil. And instead of fellowshipping and compromising, you shall separate yourself unto God and remain faithful to God.
You shall destroy the works of the devil, by doing the works of God that Jesus commanded you to do. Because that’s the commission Jesus gave to His followers (a.o. Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-18, Luke 24:47).
You shall not approve the works of darkness, but you shall testify that its works are evil, by testifying the truth of God’s Word and keep standing on the truth of God’s Word.
You shall be an ambassador of His Kingdom and His will by staying obedient to His commandments (a.o. John 7:7)
You are the light and the salt of the earth
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled (Matthew 5:13-18)
Just like Jesus, you shall be the light and the salt of the earth, which will not always be pleasant to the people around you, who love the world and want to live in darkness, but it will be necessary. Because without the Word the people will perish.
The works you do, prove which kingdom you represent, build and establish on earth and which kingdom you destroy. Because what you bind on earth, will be bound in heaven and what you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (Read also: ‘What does binding and loosing mean?’)
If you do the works of God and therefore do what Jesus, the Word, commands you to do, you shall destroy the works of the devil. But if you do the works of your flesh and listen to your carnal mind and obey and fulfill the will, lusts and desires of your flesh, then you shall not destroy the works of the devil and his kingdom, but you shall destroy the works of God. You shall destroy His precious creation by faith in the lies of the world.
