They knew the grace of God in truth (Colossians 1:6)
The saints in Colosse accepted the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When they accepted Jesus Christ and were born again in Christ, they were reconciled with God. From that moment, they became acquainted with the grace of God in truth.
The grace of God in truth
It is important to know what the grace of God is and what the grace of God is not. Because in many churches the false grace of God is preached and causes Christians to become lukewarm and apostate from the faith. What is the grace of God?
The grace of God is that we are reconciled to God by faith in Jesus Christ and regeneration in Him- The grace of God, that we have become holy and righteous by His blood and that we receive the Holy Spirit.
- The grace of God, that we are seated in Christ and have the ability to become like Him.
- Yes the grace of God, that we have become co-heirs in Jesus Christ and therefore receive the full (spiritual) heritage in Him. That is the grace of God in truth!
What is grace not?
What is grace not? The grace of God is NOT a free card to keep sinning. When you have been baptized, you have laid down your old life as a sinner. Therefore you shall no longer walk as a sinner.
It is a choice, which you have made yourself. No one forced you to do it. You’ve decided to lay down your own old life and become a new creation in Jesus Christ. A new creation in Jesus Christ will not return to his old former life as a sinner. Because that means that you will live in bondage of sin and death again.
You are a new creation in Jesus Christ and have the Holy Spirit abiding in you. Because of the grace of God, you have the ability and power to say NO to sin.
Let sin not rule your life, but become a ruler over sin.
