Meaning Proverbs 1:10-14 – If sinners entice thee, consent thou not

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse (Proverbs 1:10-14)

The meaning of Proverbs 1:10-14

In Proverbs 1:10-14 the father warns the son for the temptations of sinners, who live without God and have the devil as father. The father warns his son that if sinners entice him, he should not consent.

The son should resist the temptation and keep himself and abstain from the path of the wicked. Because if the son goes along with them, he shall leave the path of God and enter the path of the sinner.

Turn away from evil and don’t enter the path of the sinner

This path of the sinner and of unrighteousness leads to sin and death and not to righteousness and eternal life.

The path of the sinner is evil. All the people, who walk upon this path tempt and deceive others and do evil and/or even kill others.

Psalm 119-9-wherewith shall a young man cleanse his way

Don’t be tempted by sinners to follow their example.

Don’t pursuit riches and don’t hurt others and enter the path of unrighteousness, because it will cost you your integrity.

How many times, do people commit fraud in business corporations, foundations, charity organizations, and even in churches, due to their love for money?

How many people have become victims of scammers and their love for money?

And how many people work illegally or think of creative ways to avoid paying their taxes? All because of their love for money and their greed for more.

They dupe others and enrich themselves with other people’s money and possessions.

The love for money and longing for more

Scam, fraud, lying, tax evasion, stealing, murder, etc almost always revolve around money and longing for more.

The Father warns the son to restrain himself from the path of sinners, and to not wait for blood, nor lurk privily for the innocent without cause, because of precious substances.

Don’t fill your house with spoil, that you’ve stolen or gotten illegally, because you shall carry guilt upon yourself. God is omnipotent, He sees everything!

Don’t be tempted but walk in integrity!

Be a person of integrity. When the people around you walk on corruptive ways, don’t go the same direction. Don’t participate with them; don’t do foolish things and don’t do evil to others.

Don’t be tempted by wonderful promises, don’t be tempted by illegal ways to get more money. But always stay obedient to the Word of God and the instructions of the Father and restrain yourself from all the things that could lead you to sin.

Guard your integrity and let nothing and no one steal that from you!
