To sin or not to sin is the decision you make in life. Every person is responsible for his or her own life and decides to believe God and His Word (la Bibbia) and walk in the will of God or not. Just like the Father, Jesus gave a command to sin no more but it was up to the people to give heed to his command or not. Let’s look at the story of the healing of the lame man at the pool of Bethesda and the woman who committed adultery and was caught in the act.
The healing of the lame man at the pool of Bethesda
In Giovanni 5:1-15, Gesù guarì un uomo, per chi aveva un'infermità 38 anni. Questo zoppo giaceva su un letto presso la piscina di Bethesda.
When Jesus saw the lame man, He went to him and asked him if he wanted to get well. Lo zoppo rispose a Gesù, that he didn’t have anyone to bring him to the water to get healed.
Allora Gesù comandò all'uomo di alzarsi, di prendere il suo lettuccio e di camminare. The man obeyed the words of Jesus and stood up and walked. Lo zoppo fu guarito da Gesù! But what did Jesus say to him about the decision to sin or not to sin?
Why did Jesus say to Sin no more?
When Jesus met the man who was healed of his infirmity in the Temple in Jerusalem, Gesù comandò all'uomo di non peccare più. Why did Jesus say to sin no more? Lest a worse thing would come unto him.
Gesù guarì l'uomo dalla sua malattia (la sua infermità). L'uomo era guarito e il Regno di Dio era venuto a lui.
Il regno delle tenebre aveva affascinato l'uomo 38 anni. But when Jesus came and the power of the Kingdom of heaven came upon him, l'uomo è stato liberato dalla sua schiavitù.
Successivamente Gesù lo trovò nel tempio, e gli disse, Ecco, tu sei reso intero: non peccare più, per non venire una cosa peggiore
John 5:14
Gesù liberò l'uomo dalla prigione spirituale delle tenebre
Jesus released this lame man from this spiritual prison of darkness. Now that this man was released from this spiritual prison of darkness, Jesus commanded the healed man to no violate the spiritual laws by sinning.
In altre parole; Jesus told the man to keep the commandments and do the volontà di Dio and stay obedient to God instead of obeying and doing the will of the devil (chi opera nella carne) dal peccato.
Because if the man decided to reject the commandment of Jesus and disobey God and sin, he would be taken captive again by the forces of darkness and worse things would happen to him.
Gesù avvertì l'uomo, because the man was carnal. He didn’t see the spiritual realm and couldn’t discern the spirits. But Jesus was spiritual and knew the spirit realm and the spiritual laws and revealed it to him through His word.
Jesus knew the Kingdom of Heaven and the kingdom of darkness. He wanted this man to stay free and not become a prisoner of the devil and darkness again.
Perciò, Gesù comandò all'uomo di non peccare più.
Gesù disse, Go and sin no more to the woman that committed adultery
In Giovanni 8:1-11, we read about a woman that was caught in the act of adultery. The woman that committed adultery was brought unto Jesus. Gli scribi e i farisei accusarono la donna di adulterio e raccontarono a Gesù ciò che aveva fatto.
They suggested to stone her according to the Legge di Mosè. But the words of these men didn’t come from a good conscience. They only wanted to tempt Jesus, so that they could accuse Him.
Gesù scrisse per terra con il dito e disse loro, “He who’s sinless among you, sia lui il primo a scagliarle la pietra addosso“.
Jesus knew that the people that belonged to the old generation of fallen man were carnal. They were trapped in the sinful nature of the flesh.
Instead of stoning the adultrous woman, the men left one by one until there was no one left except Jesus and the adultrous woman.
In quel momento, Jesus had the power to condemn the woman and stone her. Because Jesus walked in the authority of the Kingdom of God (come la nuova creazione) and was sinless.
Tuttavia, Jesus said to the woman that He wouldn’t condemn her either. Since it was not Jesus’ time to judge but to save.
MA… Gesù non ha approvato of her work of adultery. Jesus commanded the woman to go her way and non peccare più.
Gesù le disse, Nemmeno io ti condanno: andare, e non peccare più
John 8:11
La nuova creazione è separata dal mondo
When you repent and become born again in Christ and enter the Kingdom of God, you leave the kingdom of darkness and are separated from the world. You have been forgiven, redento, and made whole and righteous by the blood of Jesus Christ.
You’ve become new creation and as a result of this spiritual transformation, desideri manda via il tuo vecchio con le sue vecchie abitudini.
Non camminerai più come camminavi prima del pentimento, because you repented from that lifestyle and its works (della carne).
È essenziale rendersene conto non sei più un peccatore. You have become a saint through regeneration in Christ.
If you don’t realize and believe this, you will always think and live as a sinner. You’ll be stuck in your sins and never be freed from your sins.
Quando sei nato di nuovo, sei passato da un regno spirituale all'altro (Colossesi 1:13-14)
In your old life, you thought like the world and walked in sin (sin = disobedience to God. It’s everything that goes against the Word of God that represents the will of God) and you were of the devil.
The nature of the devil will do his will
You had the character and nature of your father the devil. In your fallen state, non sei riuscito a sottometterti a Dio e a fare la Sua volontà. Invece, you lived after the will of the flesh in rebellion.
You were rebellious towards God and His Word and obedient to the words and will of the devil (la volontà, lussuria, and desire of your flesh), e visse nel peccato. La Bibbia dice, che se pecchi, you have the devil as father and do the lust thereof (John 8:44).
When you decided pentirsi, indirettamente hai detto che non volevi più avere il diavolo come tuo padre. Non volevi obbedire alle sue parole e camminare nella sua volontà. Eri stufo della tua vita sotto la sua autorità.
Quando hai ascoltato le parole del Vangelo e hai incontrato Gesù Cristo, hai creduto in Lui e Lo hai accettato come tuo Salvatore e Signore.
Volevi Dio come tuo Padre invece del diavolo e obbedivi alle Sue parole e camminavi nella Sua volontà. Non volevi obbedire alle parole del diavolo e camminare nella sua volontà.
La natura di Dio farà la Sua volontà
From the moment you are born again and receive the nature of your Father God, you will long for Him and the things of His Kingdom. There must be a desire to do the will of God and to walk according to what God says.
A real father knows what is good for his child. A real father wants the best for his child. Se un padre terreno vuole il meglio per i suoi figli, quanto più il tuo Padre celeste.
Ecco perché, God revealed His will to us in His Word (la Bibbia).
God revealed to us not only what pleases Him and what displeases Him, but He also revealed the way of salvation, come diventa una nuova creazione and how to walk as the new creation in His will.
God revealed it all in the Bible which is His Word. Affinché, La sua strada diventa la tua strada E His thoughts becomes your thoughts.
Did the people choose to sin or not to sin?
Gesù lo disse all'uomo, che fu guarito dalla sua infermità e la donna, che fu colto in flagrante adulterio, per non peccare più. Perciò, these people had the power to sin no more. They had the power to say ‘no to sin’. But did they obey the commandment of Jesus and choose to sin no more or not?
Gesù gli disse, Amerai il Signore Dio tuo con tutto il cuore, e con tutta l'anima tua, e con tutta la tua mente. Questo è il primo e grande comandamento. E il secondo è simile, Amerai il prossimo tuo come te stesso. Da questi due comandamenti dipendono tutta la legge e i profeti (Matteo 22:37-40)
La donna aveva il potere di dire “no”.’ all'adulterio, perché altrimenti, Gesù non le avrebbe dato il comandamento di non peccare più. La domanda è, la donna rispose a Gesù’ comandamento di non peccare più?
Did the adulterous woman obey the commandment of Jesus or did she let her feelings, la sua lussuria, and her desire rule over the words of Jesus and give in to her feelings of lust and desire?
Ricordare, quando Gesù comandò di non peccare più, His crucifixion and the effusione dello Spirito Santo had not taken place yet.
So these people were not born again. Erano ancora la vecchia creazione. However the old creation had the power to say ‘no’ peccare e non peccare più.
Anche tu hai il potere di non peccare più. Decidi tu se peccare o non peccare.
Attraverso il opera redentrice di Gesù Cristo, Tu sei stato reso santo e giusto. Ora che sei stato reso santo e giusto, anche tu sei stato chiamato a vivere in santità e rettitudine (2 Corinzi 5:21).
Salvati per grazia e compiendo le opere dello Spirito
Non sei salvato dalle opere, but by grace. Ma essere sotto la grazia non significa che ti sia permesso continuare a peccare. Perché se la tua carne è morta in Cristo quando sei nato di nuovo, come puoi compiere le opere della carne??
Amerai il Signore tuo Dio con tutto il tuo cuore, e con tutta la tua anima e con tutta la tua mente e amerai il tuo prossimo come te stesso (Matteo 22:37-40)
When you are saved and born again, you see the nature and effect of sin, che è il frutto della morte. You will hate sin, proprio come Dio. Odierai la tua precedente vita di peccatore e non tornerai ad essa. (Leggi anche: Puoi continuare a peccare sotto la grazia?)
Quando tu amare Dio con tutto il tuo cuore, anima, mente, e forza amerai fare la Sua volontà.
You shall spend time with God and renew your mind with the Word of God (la Bibbia) and apply His words into your life, affinché tu diventi un operatore delle parole di Dio e compia le opere dello Spirito. Non devi farlo, ma tu lo vuoi, perché sei stato fatto a sua somiglianza e ami Dio.
Quando la Parola e lo Spirito Santo abitano dentro di te, camminerai secondo lo Spirito in obbedienza alla Parola. Camminerai innamorato, santità, e giustizia, facendo la volontà del Padre ed esaltandolo e glorificandolo.
