The holy anointing oil and olive oil are used by many Christians because they believe anointing oil has power. Kretyen yo sèvi ak lwil la pou plizyè rezon, Pou egzanp, to consecrate someone into an office (ministè), sanktifye kay yo, bilding yo, ak objè yo, to heal the sick, chase move lespri yo, or for spiritual warfare. But is using anointing oil Biblical and is it part of the New Covenant or is this a custom that was practiced in the Old Covenant, which Christians adopted and applied to the New Covenant? What is the power and purpose of anointing oil in the Bible and how do you use it according to the Bible? Let’s look at what the Bible says about anointing oil and look at the lives of Jesus and the apostles and see if they used anointing oil.
The use and purpose of the holy anointing oil in the Old Covenant
Nan Egzòd 30, nou li sou konpozisyon an ak objektif lwil la apa pou Bondye. Bondye te kòmande Moyiz pou l te prepare lwil pou mete apa pou Bondye a e pou l te vide lwil sou tabènak kongregasyon an., ak Bwat Kontra a, ak tab la ak tout veso li yo, ak gwo lanp sèt branch lan ak veso li yo, ak lotèl lansan an, ak lotèl pou boule ofrann yo ansanm ak tout veso li yo, ak basen an ak pye l '.
The holy anointing oil was used throughout generations.
Sepandan, God specifically commanded that this holy anointing oil could not be used to pour upon man’s flesh.
Li pa t gen dwa fè okenn lòt tankou li, apre konpozisyon li, because it was holy. Se poutèt sa. it would be holy unto them.
Si yon moun ta konpoze nenpòt tankou li, or put the anointing oil upon a stranger (moun ki pa otorize), li ta disparèt nan mitan pèp li a (Egzekite 30:22-33).
Sa a di nou, ke yo te pèmèt yo sèvi ak lwil wen apa pou Bondye a sèlman pou sèvis sakre Senyè a ak wen (konsakre) alèji (wo)prèt(s), tabènak, ak materyèl yo ak objè yo, ki te itilize pou sèvis Seyè a.
Yo pa t pèmèt yo sèvi ak lwil pou mete apa pou Bondye a pou vide kò yon moun (yon etranje) epi li te entèdi pou kopi lwil wen an.
Why did people make a trade of the holy anointing oil?
Si sa yo se pawòl Bondye, then why have people made a trade of the holy anointing oil and sell them to make a profit?
There a people that make a holy anointing oil after the composition that is written in the Bible and pretend that this oil has supernatural (gerizon) pouvwa.
Anpil kretyen tonbe nan pyèj manti sa a. Yo kwè pawòl moun sa yo e yo achte lwil pou wen, believing that the oil has power
They believe and buy this holy anointing oil, only because they are ignorant of the truth. Many Christians don’t read and study the Bible themselves but blindly believe everything that is preached by people.
And so they buy the oil and anoint everything and everyone, ki moun ki vin sou wout yo. Because they believe that the oil has supernatural (gerizon) pouvwa. They believe that by using this miraculous oil they unleash special powers that will heal the sick, deliver people from demonic oppression, epi netwaye kay yo, bilding yo, ak objè ki soti nan pouvwa dyabolik.
All because of fo doktrin, yo kwè ke lè yo wenn yon bagay oswa yon moun ak lwil, move lespri yo pral kouri.
Èske Jezi te sèvi ak lwil wen??
Lè nou gade Jezikri, Ki moun ki te la Premye pitit nouvo kreyasyon an, ak lavi li sou tè a, we don’t read anything about Jesus walking around with a vial or bottle of anointing oil.
Èske Jezi te sèvi ak lwil wen pou wen moun?, objè yo, kay, ak bilding yo? Non. Jezi te vini nan non Papa l: nan otorite Papa l e li te di pawòl li yo. Every word that proceeded out of Jesus’ bouch rive.
Did Jesus anoint His disciples with oil before Jesus sent them forth two by two? Non, Jezi te bay disip li yo otorite ak pouvwa sou move lespri yo e pou yo geri malad yo (fèb la).
Jezi te voye yo preche epi pote Wayòm Bondye a bay pèp Bondye a epi rele yo pou yo repanti. Nou pa li, that Jesus commanded His disciples to take a vial or bottle of oil with them to anoint houses or people (Matye 10:1-15, Mak 6:7-13, Lik 9:1-6).
Kòm yon kesyon de reyalite, nou li sou koutim sa a nan parabòl Samariten an. Lè Samariten an ale bò kote blese a, li mare blesi li yo, vide lwil oliv ak diven (Lik 10:30-35).
Gwo komisyon an ak lwil onksyon an
Before Jesus ascended to heaven and took His place on the throne at the right hand of the Father, Jezi te bay disip li yo gwo misyon an. This commission wasn’t only meant for the disciples that were present, but for all the disciples of Jesus that would come after them and swiv Jezi. Jesus commanded all believers to go.
Lè Jezi te pale ak disip li yo, Jezi pa t mansyone lwil wen an oswa wen yon moun oswa yon bagay ak lwil oliv.
Jezi pa t kòmande disip li yo pou yo vide lwil sou yon moun pou yo mete nan yon biwo (ministè) epi pou sanktifye oswa konsakre moun nan.
Jezi te kòmande disip li yo pou yo mete men sou malad yo pou yo ka refè (Mak 16:18)
Apot yo ak lwil wen an nan Nouvo Alyans lan
Although Peter was one of the twelve disciples that was sent by Jesus on a mission and apparently anointed the sick (fèb la, fèb) ak lwil oliv, when Peter became a new creation full of the Holy Spirit, we don’t read anywhere that Peter anointed people that were sick or weak with oil.
The first healing that took place after Jesus ascended to heaven and after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, se te gerizon moun ki bwete a, ki te kouche bò pòtay tanp lan.
When Peter and John went to the temple, and a lame man asked them for alms, Pyè pa t pwan boutèy lwil oliv li pou wen li.
Did Paul and the other apostles use oil to anoint the sick, kay, bilding yo, oswa objè yo?
Paul and the other apostles didn’t use oil either to anoint people that were sick or weak, kay, bilding yo, oswa objè yo.
Lè Pòl te ekri tout lèt sa yo bay legliz yo, nou pa li anyen sou kòmande sen yo pou wen ansyen yo, dyak, the sick or weak, kay, bilding oswa objè ki gen lwil oliv.
Pa menm nan lèt yo, which Paul wrote to the carnal church in Corinth.
The new creation is spiritual and received the Holy Spirit
They didn’t need any natural resources or perform all kinds of visible religious rituals to make the spiritual visible to the carnal man as in the Old Covenant.
Sentespri a te konekte yo nan lespri a ak Jezikri ak Papa a. That’s why they walked just like Jesus (Premye pitit nouvo kreyasyon an) nan otorite li.
The only thing they had to remember and keep was the kominyon, whereby they remembered their Lord Jesus and were partakers of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
What about anointing the sick with oil in James 5:14-15?
Nan Jak 5:14-15, we read about the practice of anointing a sick person with oil. It’s the only time in the apostolic letters that we read about the use of oil and anointing a person with oil.
Is any sick (fèb) among you? Se pou l rele chèf fanmi yo nan legliz la; epi se pou yo lapriyè pou li, wenn li ak lwil nan non Seyè a: epi lapriyè lafwa a pral sove malad yo, epi Senyè a pral leve l (James 5:14-15).
.
James wrote this letter to the twelve tribes of Israel that were scattered abroad.
James commanded them to call upon the elders when someone among them was sick (fèb) and to pray over that person and anoint him with oil in the Name of the Lord.
Sepandan, although this practice of anointing the sick with oil was done by the elders, the anointing oil didn’t have supernatural power.
The anointing oil and the practice of anointing the sick with oil had nothing to do with healing. Paske nan pwochen vèsè a, li ekri, ke lapriyè lafwa a va sove ak geri moun nan.
Nan yon lòt sans, by faith in the Name of Jesus and by believing in His perfect work of salvation (that He was scourged at the whipping post and took all infirmities and diseases upon Him and carried all the sins and iniquity of the world on the cross, epi li mouri epi te antre nan Hades, where He conquered death and rose from the dead as Overcomer, Ki moun ki gen tout otorite nan syèl la ak sou tè a), moun nan te sove ak geri. (nan. Ezayi 53:4-5, 1 Pyè 2:24, Revelasyon 1:18).
Do Christians have more faith in oil than in the Name of Jesus?
Bib la di, pou nou vin tankou Jezikri, Senyè ak Mèt nou an (Matye 10:25, Efezyen yo 4:15). Si Jezi pa t sèvi ak lwil wen, nou ta dwe mande tèt nou ak tout kè nou si nou ta dwe sèvi ak lwil wen.
Se yon bagay tris, ke anpil kretyen gen plis lafwa nan lwil la epi konsidere li kòm yon mirak pase nan Non Jezi.
If Christians would wake up and become aware of Who lives inside of them, and what position and power (otorite) they have received in Jesus Christ, Lè sa a, yo pa ta manyen okenn lwil ankò.
Lafwa a pa ta dwe nan lwil la men nan Jezikri ak non li.
If Christians believe that the oil symbolizes the Holy Spirit and that the Holy Spirit dwells inside of them, Lè sa a, poukisa yo bezwen lwil oliv?
