מה אומר התנ"ך על המשפט על פני האדמה? בישעיהו 24:1-23 אנו קוראים על המשפט על פני האדמה. אנחנו לא רק קוראים על המשפט עלי אדמות, אבל אנחנו גם קוראים על הסיבה מדוע כדור הארץ יהיה שופט וכיצד נראה משפטו של אלוהים
מדוע תישפט הארץ?
לְהַבִּיט, יהוה עושה את הארץ ריקה, ועושה את זה בזבוז, והופכת אותו, ומפזר את יושביו. וזה יהיה, כמו עם האנשים, כך עם הכומר; כמו אצל המשרת, כך עם האדון שלו; כמו אצל העוזרת, כך עם המאהבת שלה; כמו אצל הקונה, כך עם המוכר; כמו אצל המלווה, כך עם הלווה; כמו אצל הלוקח ריבית, כך עם נותן הריבית לו.
הארץ תתרוקן כליל, ומפונקת לגמרי: כי יהוה דיבר את הדבר הזה.
הארץ מתאבלת ומתפוגגת, העולם דועך ומתפוגג, האנשים המתנשאים של האדמה אכן נמקים.
גם הארץ נטמאה מתחת ליושביה; כי הם עברו על החוקים, שינה את הפקודה, הפר את הברית הנצחית. על כן אכלה הקללה את הארץ, והיושבים בו שוממים: לפיכך נשרפים יושבי הארץ, ומעט גברים עזבו.
The new wine mourns, the vine languishes, all the merry hearted do sigh.
The mirth of tablets ceases, the noise of them that rejoice ends, the joy of the harp ceases. They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.
The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in. There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.

In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction. When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.
They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the Lord, they shall cry aloud from the sea.
Wherefore glorify ye the Lord in the fires, even the Name of the Lord God of Israel in the isles of the sea.
From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; כן, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.
פַּחַד, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. וַיְהִי, that he who flees from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.

The earth is utterly broken down, האדמה נקייה מומסת, כדור הארץ מתרגש מאוד. הארץ תסתובב הלוך ושוב כמו שיכור, ויוסר כמו קוטג'; וכבדה עליו פשע; וַיִּפֹּל, ולא לעלות שוב.
ויהי ביום ההוא, כי יעניש ה' את צבא הגבוהים שבמרומים, ומלכי הארץ על הארץ. ויאסף אותם יחדיו, כמו שבויים נאספים בבור, וייסגר בבית הסוהר, ואחרי ימים רבים יבקרו אותם.
אז יבלבל הירח, והשמש בושה, כאשר ימלוך ה' צבאות בהר ציון, ובירושלים, ולפני קדמוניו לתפארת.
