The strikes on the Rock

The first time the congregation of God had no water to drink in the wilderness, God commanded Moses to take his rod and strike the rock once. But the second time, the congregation had no water to drink, God commanded Moses to take the rod and speak to the rock. Speaking to the rock was sufficient to provide water for the whole congregation. But instead of obeying the Lord and speaking to the rock, Moses turned his words to the murmuring people. After speaking to the congregation, Moses smote the rock twice. By smiting the rock twice, Moses became disobedient to God’s commandment, which had consequences for his life. Has the preaching of the cross lost its power?

Paul was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. He wouldn’t dare to speak of anything else but the crucified and risen Christ, the Son of the living God. The preaching of the cross of Christ was in his mouth continuously. Because Paul knew that the gospel of Christ and the preaching of the cross is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes. The other believers also preached the cross, not for their own gain, but for Christ’s gain. But is this still the case? Is the same cross of Christ still preached? Or has the preaching of the cross lost its power due to the modernized version of the cross that is preached? In Matthew 7:7-8 and Luke 11:9-10 Jesus said, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for everyone that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened. Jesus promised that everyone who asks (prays) shall be given. That everyone who seeks shall find. And everyone who knocks shall be opened. Has the church become a den of thieves?

God’s temple had become a den of thieves (den of robbers), where abominations were done. And nearly 2000 years later, the people managed to make the church a den of thieves. Instead of regeneration, the church has degenerated and has become defiled through false doctrines. Unclean spirits of darkness have gotten free reign in the lives of Christians. In all three dispensations, the devil has succeeded in misleading people, turning them away from God, and making God’s house a den of thieves, where the devil has become the head. David was a man after God’s own heart, is cited by many Christians to approve adultery (infidelity) and fornication of Christians, especially of preachers. The many other Scriptures in which God condemns the works of the flesh (sin) are forgotten. Even Joseph, who feared the Lord and refused to commit adultery is not mentioned. Money is not evil, but the love for money is evil, is quoted by many Christians. It sounds so pious and of course it is true, because the Bible says in 1 Timothy 6:10, that the love of money is the root of all evil.
