Why a father should be teaching his child

For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live (Proverbs 4:3-4)

Solomon wrote about the time, that he was with his father David. He remembered, how his father taught him, and instructed him to retain his words in his heart, and to keep his commandments, so that he would live.

The role of a father is teaching his child

The role of a father is teaching his child and raising His child in the Word. A father should teach his child in the wisdom of God, that is found in the Bible; the Word. So that, the child will grow up in the wisdom of God.

Let thine heart retain my words keep my commandments, proverbs 4:4On the other hand, a child should respect and obey his/her parents. A child should listen, and retain the teaching of his/her father in his/her heart, and keep his commandments.

As a son of God, new creation, it’s also important to listen and hear the commandments of the Father. The Holy Spirit is your Teacher, and He will guide you into all truth. It’s important to hear His instructions, obey Him and to keep the words of the Father in your heart.

When you live after the Spirit, and keep His words in your heart, and apply His words to your life, than you will walk in His will and receive eternal life.
