What is the meaning of Colossians 1:12, Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light?
Knowing the will of the Father
When you know the will of the Father and walk according to His will, you’ll walk worthy of the Lord. You will be fruitful in every good work.
Your knowledge of God will increase. You’ll be strengthened with all of His might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering while you being joyful and giving thanks unto the Father.
Why you should be giving thanks unto the Father?
You should be giving thanks unto the Father because He made you a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light. Every day, you should be thankful, for all that the Father has done and for all the things that He has given you.
God made a way for everyone to come to Him, be reconciled with Him, and become a son of God. He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, so that through- and in Him, many more sons would be born.
The Father sowed His Son and reaped (and still reaps) many sons (both males and females). Sons, who are born again in Christ by the power of His Holy Spirit. Isn’t that wonderful!
When you become a son of God, you become a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in the light. You have received His Holy Spirit and Word. Now, you can walk in the inheritance of the saints in the sphere of the light.
God has given you everything!
He gave you all things to become like your Lord Jesus Christ and to walk like Him (a.o. John 14:12-13, Romans 8:2).
Therefore, you should be giving thanks unto the Father, instead of complaining about your problems and that things don’t go according to your will or your plans. (Read also: What if God’s will is not your will?).
Remember, God hates complaining and murmuring.
God hates the evil of murmuring and complaining against Him
When God redeemed His carnal people from the bondage of Pharaoh from Egypt and gave His people everything they needed, the people were still not satisfied.
They kept complaining and murmuring all the time. And you know how God felt about that and what happened to them, don’t you?
How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against Me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against Me. Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in Mine ears, so will I do to you: Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness (Numbers 14:27-29)
Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer (1 Corinthians 10:10)
Stop complaining and start giving thanks unto the Father in your situation
Therefore stop complaining about your problems to God and/or to other people. Complaining won’t solve the problem, it will only make it worse. Instead, speak to the problem and tell it what you want it to do.
In the meantime, no matter what situation you are in or what problem you are facing, you should always be giving thanks unto the Father, for all that He has done. (Read also: The thankfulness of the sons of God).

God gave you everything in Christ Jesus to walk holy and righteous as a son of God and to be an overcomer in this world. This inheritance of the saints is so precious.

When you open, read, and study the Bible; the Word of God, you will find out who you really are in Christ, and what you have been given in Him; the inheritance of the saints in light.
