What does walking in love mean according to the Bible?

What does the Bible say about walking in love? When do you walk in love? Do you walk in love, when you are kind to people and tolerate and accept all things, including sins and iniquities? Many Christians think that when you walk in love, you shouldn’t be harsh and judgmental, but respect and accept everyone, including their lifestyle, habits, sins, and iniquities. Because of this new age mindset, many churches do not represent Jesus Christ anymore and don’t preach and represent the Kingdom of God and the will of God. Instead, they have become social entertaining businesses that are based on worldly principles and carnal doctrines of man, where sins and iniquities abound and where there is little or no more power. Let’s have a look at what Jesus, the Word, says about walking in love.

What does walking in love mean according to the Bible?

As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you: continue ye in My love. If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Father’s commandments, and abide in His love (John 15:9-10)

What does walking in love mean according to the Bible? According to the Bible, walking in love means keeping the commandments of Jesus Christ. When you walk in love, you will keep His commandments. Therefore, only when you keep His commandments and stay obedient and do what the Word tells you to do, only then shall you walk in love.

the two great commandments, If you love Me keep My commandments

Just as written in previous articles, the love for your neighbour begins with the love you have for Jesus Christ; the Word. You are seated in Him, in the Word, therefore you should get to know the Word. You will only get to know Him by the Word (the Bible) because Jesus is the Word.

When Jesus is your first love, and when your love for Him is greater than the love for your ‘self’ and the world, and all there is within, only then shall you be able to love your neighbour as yourself (Read also: ‘What does it mean you shall love your neighbour as yourself?‘)

When you love out of the flesh, out of your emotions and feelings, then your love belongs to the ‘death works’. But when you love out of the Spirit, you shall, first of all, love God with all of your heart, mind, and soul. You shall not walk according to your understanding and what you think and your opinion, but you shall walk according to what the Word says, and you shall love your neighbour as yourself. You shall be able to forgive others and will have compassion for people.

Jesus walked in love

Jesus walked in the commandments of His Father, therefore Jesus walked in love. Jesus wasn’t a wishy-washy, Who approved and accepted all things of man. He didn’t speak gentle words, but Jesus spoke hard words (Read also ‘Who is Jesus really).

Jesus did not accept all kinds of behavior that went against the will of His Father. And Jesus certainly did not approve of sins, but Jesus reproved man of their sins. Because Jesus knew, that sin leads people into the bondage of the devil and will lead to eternal death.

Jesus came to bring salvation, for those, who lived in the bondage of sin. Jesus came to set the captives free. He taught the people the Word of God, and many people repented of their sins. They gave up their life as a sinner, and became obedient to Him, to His words and followed Him.

How to walk in love?

Jesus is your Example. Just as the Father sent Jesus and Jesus submitted Himself to the Father and Jesus walked in love by keeping the commandments of His Father., so are you sent by Jesus and you should submit yourself to Jesus; the Word and walk in love by keeping His commandments.

Jesus brought sinners to repentance

It’s important for believers to admonish each other in love, so that every believer will keep walking in love on the narrow path that will lead to eternal life.

When you see a brother or sister living in sin, or falls back into sin every time, or becomes disobedient to the Word, or goes after another doctrine that is not in agreement with the Word of God, then it’s your duty to admonish and correct him or her in a gentle manner.

If you love your brother and sister, you will admonish and/or correct him or her, so that so (s)he can repent and will be saved (Read also: ‘Whom the Lord loves He chastens and scourges’)

If you don’t care about your neighbour, then you keep your mouth shut. You will accept everything this person does and let him or her keep on walking in disobedience to God; in sins and iniquities, on his or her way to hell.

But if you do care about your neighbour and have the compassion of Jesus Christ, then you shall open your mouth, preach the truth, and reprove him or her of sin. By doing that, you will give life to him or her and prevent him or her of going to hell..

Therefore walk in Jesus’s love; love Jesus and keep all His commandments.
