Did you know the earth used to be one continent?

Did you know, that a long time ago the earth used to be one continent instead of seven continents; Africa, North America, South America, Antarctic, Australia, Asia, and Europe? What happened on the earth? How was the earth divided into seven continents?

The earth used to be one continent

When God created the heavens and the earth, the earth existed out of one big continent. The earth was one continent, until the earth was divided, in the days of Peleg. We can read this in Genesis chapter 10:25 and in 1 Chronicles chapter 1:19;

And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan (Genesis 10:25)

And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; because in his days the earth was divided: and his brother’s name was Joktan (1 Chronicles 1:19)

The continents of the world fit like a jiggle puzzle

When you take a map with all the continents and cut them out, then these continents will fit like a jiggle puzzle and make one big continent (pangaea).

Why was the earth divided? And how was the earth divided? This will be explained in the following blogpost, ‘ ‘The biggest earthquake of all times‘.
